Alex Monges
In my work I explore the connection between memories and the tangible.
I travel personal memories relying on sketches and notes, which are transformed into unique prints using different printing processes.By adding the missing elements from the original sketches, the final prints aim to evoke the sensations and emotions that complete the feelings of the memory in question.
I am very interested in the replicability yet uniqueness of a handmade print in that it echoes the re-telling of a story… and how it may change every time it is told and according to the teller.
I work and live in London, UK.
My work has been part of different exhibitions such as:
-
Woolwich Print Fair: The Director’s Cut (2023, 2024),
-
Small but Mighty, the Bankside Gallery (2024),
-
Mini Print Exhibition, Southbank Gallery (2024, 2025)
-
Summer Exhibition, the Green and Stone Gallery (2025)
-
Works on Paper, the Green and Stone Gallery (2026)
I also belong to the Quaggy Printmakers Collective. We exhibit at least twice a year.
